Angular leafspot

Angular Leaf Spot

Angular leaf spot of strawberry is a fungal disease caused by the pathogen Xanthomonas fragariae. It primarily affects the leaves of strawberry plants, causing angular, water-soaked lesions with yellow halos to develop. As the disease progresses, lesions may turn brown or black and become necrotic. In severe cases, leaf tissue may die, leading to defoliation and reduced fruit production. Angular leaf spot thrives in warm, humid conditions and can spread rapidly through water splash and contaminated tools. Management strategies include planting disease-resistant varieties, practicing crop rotation, maintaining good sanitation practices, and applying fungicides when necessary.
